Gwen K. Young speaks at Women In Global Health Chapter Launch

On March 24, Director Gwen K. Young joined the Women in Global Health group and United Nations Foundation in launching their first Washington, DC chapter. This new group will work to promote women’s leadership the global health sphere.

The launch event focused on the key topic of “Why does gender equality make for smart global health?” According to the most recent data, women currently make up 70% of health workers, but are only represented in 20% of leadership positions. This year the Women in Global Health, Washington DC chapter will promote more women to the table, particularly where women’s programs and policies are designed.
