WPSP Welcomes Global Ambassador Ziauddin Yousafzai
The Women in Public Service Project is pleased to announced our new Global Ambassador, Ziauddin Yousafzai. Mr. Yousafzai is an educator, human rights campaigner and social activist focused on girl's education and empowerment.
WPSP Global Ambassadors are champions of women's leadership empowerment and play a key role in promoting the work of the WPSP. The Global Ambassadors program provides a platform for leading gender parity champions to continue their work and advocacy in issues surrounding women’s leadership on stages around the world. As a Global Leadership Ambassador, Ziauddin Yousafzai will provide his expertise and work in promoting girl's education.
Ziauddin is the co-founder and board member of the Malala Fund, United Nations Special Advisor on Global Education, and an advocate for education of both boys and girls globally. He is the father of the Nobel Peace Prize Laureate, Malala Yousefzai, a prominent women’s rights activist who protested against the Taliban for right of education for women in the Swat Valley region of Pakistan. Throughout his life, Ziauddin has fought relentlessly to promote Pakistani girl’s education. Despite the Taliban’s threats, Ziauddin runs a chain of Pakistani schools in Swat Valley and encouraged Malala to fight for education and women’s rights.
