For the first time, China Women’s University invited 40 students from other Chinese women’s universities, such as Hunan Women’s University, Shandong Women’s University, Nanjing Normal University, Jinling Women’s College, Women’s College of Tongji University, Shanghai  Normal University Women’s College, and Guangdong Women’s Polytechnic College, to attend the leadership conference alongside 20 students from CWU. 

The WPSP Institute at Mills College focused on Women, Water, and the World: How Women Can Solve the Earth’s Water Crisis. Institute participants were drawn from around the globe with an emphasis on working to re-build their communities, expanding their public service orientation, and promoting sustainable economic livelihoods.

The WPSP Uganda Institute was honored by remarks from Jane Harman, Director, President and CEO of the Wilson Center in Washington, DC, who spoke to participants and congratulated WPSP alumni while highlighting the importance of the WPSP agenda. The participants also had the opportunity to interact with a Kabale area woman member of parliament who shared her insight on women’s participation in Uganda’s Parliament.

This flagship course aimed to equip student participants with the necessary skills and knowledge base needed for pursuing positions of leadership at the local and national levels of their respective countries. Guest speakers from various multilateral and global institutions engaged the students in active dialogue pertaining to a global topic of choice.

The Leadership Institute brought together 63 emerging women leaders from throughout Cambodia who were selected to attend the training based on their potential for public service leadership, with sessions taught by regional experts and thought leaders. The institute was convened at an important time of educational, economic, political, and social development in Cambodia.

According to Zhang Lixi, President of CWU, the Institute will  inspire future generations of women leaders. China Women’s University is the first and most prestigious public Institute of higher learning in China uniquely for female students with a goal of cultivating high quality talents in its students.
