Gender Parity Globally: A Discussion on the Gains Across Regions
On February 22, 2017, the Women in Public Service Project and the Office of Congressional Relations at the Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars hosted a discussion with the Women’s Congressional Staff Association on Capitol Hill. Gwen K. Young, Director of the Global Women’s Leadership Initiative and Women in Public Service Project, described where the world stands on women’s representation in political leadership and as compared to the U.S., best practices from region to region, and the effectiveness of legislation to reach these goals. She discussed the WPSP’s work advancing gender parity in political leadership around the world through research, partnerships, and convenings. Following the presentation, there was an informal conversation and Q&A session between Young and other Wilson Center staff and the Congressional staff members.
