Julijana Trajkovic's Story
Julijana Trajkovic is a WPSP delegate from Macedonia who participated in the WPSP "Peacebuilding and Development" Institute at Bryn Mawr College.
Trajkovic is a trailblazer for women’s issues in Macedonia. Nationally recognized as a woman committed to increasing the female presence on police forces, she is a role model and the forerunner in motivation, education, networking and career development in policing. As the first and only peace-keeper from Macedonia in the U.N. Mission in Liberia (UNMIL), implementing U.N.Security Resolution 1325 on the ground, she strongly encouraged Liberian women to join the police and build their system in the country. Her fight for non-discrimination policy and gender equality strengthens the position of women in the police, and sets the ground for equal opportunities for women and men.
To be able to replicate the value of WPSP, we need to build up and raise our collective voice. I promote WPSP not as a statistic or for publicity, but as a reality that awaits, a reality with the woman becoming more aware of her position and the necessity of her input to improve the quality of living in this world scene. Her role cannot possibly be weighed or her worthiness measured.
