Pelle Sjoenell's Story

Pelle Sjoenell is Worldwide Chief Creative Officer at Bartle Bogle Hegarty.

Bartle Bogle Hegarty (BBH) was founded by John Bartle, Sir Nigel Bogle and Sir John Hegarty in London in 1982 and has over 35 years of creative excellence, becoming one of the most awarded advertising agencies in history. Joining BBH in 2007, Sjoenell most recently served as Executive Creative Director for BBH Los Angeles, which he launched in 2010, before taking on his worldwide role in 2016, overseeing creative work for BBH's seven offices across the globe: LA, New York, London, Singapore, Shanghai, Stockholm and Mumbai.

In his time at BBH, Sjoenell has worked with a myriad of global brands including Audi, Axe, New York City & Company, H&M and Google Play, and has contributed to a variety of award-winning campaigns, including the "Dear Sophie" spot for Google, voted the best commercial of 2011 by Time Magazine.

In 2015, Sjoenell partnered with Civic Nation as a member of the Creative Alliance to launch the United State of Women. Convened by the White House, the opening summit brought over 5,000 people together to launch this movement to address gender equality and justice in the US and beyond. In addition to naming the summit, BBH created a whole campaign from logo design and branding to the creation of a film featuring some of the most prominent women in film, music, culture and politics to launch this initiative. Building a communications strategy and social media content with over 2.6 billion impressions, Sjoenell helped lead thousands to customize their own pledge to stand in solidarity with those fighting to change tomorrow. He is a passionate advocate for gender equality and continues to work with the Creative Alliance to promote and support such initiatives.

Sjoenell came to the US from Sweden 10 years ago and spent part of his career as the CEO of King as well as a period at Fallon in Minneapolis. Throughout his career, Sjoenell has amassed a number of awards including 18 Cannes Lions, one of these a Titanium Lion, and a Grandy award. He studied Art Direction & Communication at the Berghs School of Communication. He now resides in LA with his wife, Pauline, and their three children.
